I was reading an article recently about how you can now find out the gender of your baby at five weeks into your pregnancy. And, to boot it is supposed to be 100 percent accurate. No more looking for the three little lines or three dots. Now it is as simple as going to the lab and getting blood drawn. I am one of those who had to find out with all three of my pregnancies what I was having. But, would I want to know as early as five weeks? I am not sure considering I am also one of those who wouldn’t buy anything for the baby or tell anyone until I got through the first trimester. What’s next, knowing the IQ at 20 weeks? Would you want to find out the sex at five weeks?
We can now find out the gender at five weeks!

I would be worried about that too, but I think people are finding out and telling everyone almost at the moment of conception.
Even when we found out we were having a girl through the old fashioned ultrasound, I still didn’t believe it. I did everything neutral just in case. It was a girl, I’m just sort of silly.
I would want to know, but I’m impatient like that. Doesn’t mean we’d necessarily tell everyone that early…but it’s crazy what technology can do!
Wow! That is amazing. The only issue I have with finding out the sex of the baby at 5 weeks would be the emotional fallout that might occur if something were to happen to the baby. We lost babies at 8 and 12 weeks, and it was hard enough as it was–I would NOT want to have known the gender of my lost babies. I think it would have added to my pain. IMHO
Hey! I am a new follower from MBC. Thanks for stopping by during my rough time.
I didn’t find out at all with my first child but I did find out with my daughter. Both experiences had their pros and cons. I do think five weeks is amazing. With my daughter, I was turning 35 so they wanted me to do a blood screening for chromosonal abnormalities at about 12 weeks. They told me they could also tell me the sex at that time. We were tempted but it cost CRAZY money and not covered by insurance so we waited until the ultrasound. There is a little fun in waiting. Five weeks… wow!
