Things like this make me wonder where we will be 20 years from now. Did you hear about the new way to find out if your kid will be good at sports?
Scientists actually spent their time figuring out a gene that can tell parents if their kid will be a good athlete. Yup! No, they did not spend their time working on a cure for cancer or why so many young people are getting Alzheimer’s – a gene that determines future strength, speed, and athletic performance in kids.
You have got to be kidding.
Isn’t it already enough that kid’s schedules are chock full of sports and extracurricular activities and that so many parents feel the need to get their kids in these sports early on in order for them to excel? I have never seen so many two and three year old kids playing hard-core sports before. It never fails though – as I watch my kid’s games there is always that star player who “has been playing since he was 2″.
Now for $200 parents can determine which field to push their kids in by taking this test. Read more about this here.
What do you think? Would you be “curious” as the one dad in this article stated, to know if your child would be best in sprinting sports or maybe kicking sports? Would you feel your child was wasting their time in a sport that was not genetically appropriate for them? Or, do you feel scientists have more important things to worry about?
